What would you do if given the opportunity to truly punish animal abusers/murderers? Would you do whatever it takes to bring them to justice?

Sam Holder is a part-time volunteer at an animal shelter. She’s seen her fair share of mistreated animals but it’s only when she comes across a brutally murdered dog on the side of the road, she acts. Filled with vengeance to bring animal abusers to justice, she funds her cause through illegal means. For her, it’s the only way to support her mission. While keeping her cause a secret from those who care about her, she’s on the hunt for the one man who started it all. He’s a cruel abuser who’ll do anything it takes to not get caught but that doesn’t stop Sam. Will she succeed in bringing him to justice or will he take his frustration out on her?

An incredible, moving suspense dealing with animal abuse and justice. Moat crafts a likeable hero in Sam Holder who’s out for her own brand of vigilante justice. The dogs can’t defend themselves, so she has to be their voice. Blending Dexter with a modern-day Robin Hood, Dog Gone battles animal abuse and sheds light on how meaningless the current laws punish those who are essentially murderers. While the beginning was a touch confusing, once I got past that and caught on to what was going on, it was a gripping suspense. I whipped through the pages in an effort to find out what would happen next. Highly recommend!

Favorite Character/Quote: Sam. While it took me awhile to figure her out, once I did, I was on-board with her vigilante justice mantra for those that abuse animals, especially dogs. She reminds me of Dexter from HBO’s series, only a woman. Hard as nails with nerves of steel, I’d fight next to her any day.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

Dog Gone A Sam Holden Novel edition by Diane Moat Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Even though I usually can not stomach violence, my love for animals and my having to cheer for the heroine kept me going nonstop. Now it’s 440 am for god’s sake!! Great story. Very highly recommended!!
I've read two of these books in a week. I could not put it down. Strong characters , good story line very different from most mysteries. The book deals with issues we are in our news broadcast s today. I need to go get #3 in the sreies!
Like many others, I grew up with a slew of heartfelt dog stories like Old Yeller and Shiloh. Diane Moat borrows the heart from those classics in her novel Dog Gone, but this story goes in some surprisingly different directions. It certainly is a tale about building love and trust for a lost cause like those other ones, but there’s a lot more going on than is originally apparent. I can’t really say more than that since the twists are what I like best about this book, but if you love the classics, this one’s for you!
Dog Gone is a very interesting book with a couple of plot twists I wasn't expecting. The main character rescues abused and neglected dogs throughout the book and the way she goes about things is absolutely perfect. It's got some very interesting darker points to it that make a lot of difference from most stories about dog rescue. It is so well-written that you could literally picture the scenes playing out in front of you. It had a very nice ending even though I thought for sure it wasn't going to end the way it did. That's how you know the book is good. When you get a surprise ending or even multiple plot twists it's very nice to have. The main character gets help from an unlikely source which was my favorite part of the whole book because you would think something like that what happened in a book like this, but the whole book was incredible and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something different to read. Overall I would give the book 4 stars.
I'll be honest, I got this book because it was free and I needed something to read on a plane. Joke was on me because this book was SO GOOD that I'm actually going to spend money on the second one.

The man character is a bad-a** woman who fights for those without voices. Her dedication to avenging animal abusers is both inspiring and nerve-wracking at the same time.

I got so wrapped up in her relationships with the people around her- ones that know what she does for a living and ones they think that they know her. There were definitely times when I was yelling at her in my head because she was driving me nuts! She puts herself on the line a lot and is doing some illegal things to help her take out animal abusers.

Definitely makes you think twice about the state of animal abuse and homeless animals in general.

If you love animals it's a good read- highly recommend!
Love, love, love this book!! The basis of the book is one that speaks very loudly to my heart so I was quickly drawn in. I found myself holding my breath in anticipation of what was next and frustration I can't read faster!! The characters are very well developed and the writer goes to great lengths to introduce them well to the reader before fully pulling you in to their lives. It is a very well rounded book and I found myself fully immersed in it as I would lose track of time as I didn't want to put it down at different times.

Very well written, the cover is perfect and I am thankful to the writer for sharing her gift. I hope to read more by this author soon!
A beautiful, heartwarming book about an young lady Sam who works as an ER nurse, does unorthodox, very often illegal things to fund her ventures to get justice for the ill-treated critters. It is wonderful to read about a person who is full of love, compassion and a strong need to help the animals that have been subjected to unspeakable acts of violence by rescuing them from horrific situations and getting them adopted

She also uses her wealth to provide much needed equipment for the animal shelter, institute awards for information about animal abusers etc.

The character of Daniel, her boyfriend, is very endearing as are the other characters, Franco, Michael and Aunt Pi. A brilliant book that accorded immense pleasure to me!

I hope that we readers get to read many more such books from you, Ms. Moat.
